Happy 2019

Happy 2019!!!

I have been looking for interesting ways to get children to spell that is fun. I have found some ways that may help parents at home with this subject.

When a child knows how to spell a word or is trying to spell a word that is not in My Dictionary then they can write it on the appropriate page and refer to it when they need it in their writing.

Suggestions for parents;

  1. Flash Cards
  2. Memory spelling
  3. Flip: In just 4 steps, your child can practice reading, spelling and writing his words. Have him flip over a word card, look at the word, say it out loud, say the letters, then flip it back over and write the word on paper.
  4. Trace, copy ,recall: Fold three columns on a piece of paper, and label one column ‘trace’, the next ‘copy’ and the last ‘recall’.
  5. Spelling Puzzle: Make a home-made puzzle by writing each word in large letters on an index card and then having the child cut each card apart. The fun is in putting the puzzle back together!
  6. Stair step:
  7. Tuck a “love note” in your child’s lunch bag to let her know how special she is. Knowing they are loved makes it easier for children to be kind to others.

If parents can get involved, it must help with teaching young children to read.

I wish you all the best for the New year!
